The day started with a hearty breakfast of blueberry pancakes for me, and oatmeal for Bob in a sweet little place just opposite our motel. Although basic, this motel was clean and comfortable and had the advantage of being able to park just outside our room.

We returned back to Glenwood Canyon with Bob driving so I could have a turn with the view and take a few photos. These have not come out that great as it was a grey start to the day, but you'll get the idea. This river is the Colorado and we cross and follow it several times today.

We followed the I-70 west - nice driving and interesting scenery. We stopped at Grand Junction for a look round another museum; more interesting stuff about frontier days.

On our itinerary, we had factored in a drive to the National Monument of Colorado but hadn't done much research so was surprised to discover this was a State Park. We were treated to a 20 mile drive of amazing geological features in colourful stone. A pretty hairy road with steep drops and many hairpins, and we were so glad we included it in our trip. Then a fairly straightforward drive of 100 miles to Moab.

Another Motel; again really good and right on the main 'strip'. Had a great meal; my first chicken wings and second Margarita of the trip!
